$ Makeover

I read an article about the Dollar ReDe$ign Project. The project was started as a creative attempt to revive the national recession, as the "catalyst to restart the economy." The creative strategy consultant behind the project says that America needs to be able to compete with its flashy rival the euro.

Here are a few concept designs that have been submitted by various people.

The purpose of the vertical dollar bill was because it was observed that people tend to handle bills vertically and and look for bills in their wallet vertically (duh, that's because wallets open vertially...)

The one dollar bill hasn't changed for decades, I doubt this will ever go through now. I think Americans have a firm identity with their money and its distinct look. These recent designs look so much like foreign bills. Even though the project is real, it actually isn't popular. The heads of the project have circulated a petition to urge the U.S. government to change the bills' designs, and that's how much effort they need to try an prove that people want these changes, but I don't think it will happen, not soon at least.

  1. o_o WOW korea just had new bills printed few years ago-
    it was pretty crazy, the paper it self was bigger and lighter.
    Why would you waste money for making new bills-rather than try invest in something else? I thought back then. :(
