Alaska Part 1: My Treat

Been out for a while... where? Alaska
Current Residence: Sacramento
Current Status: Sweaty Hot
Current Song in Head: Land Down Under by Men At Work
Current Feeling: Missing Sue so badly

Here is a treat from the final frontier, my favorites...

Sue surprise attack! Isn't she sweet, came to visit before we left, only got to see her for 3 minutes. But it was worth this sumptuous picture!

No windows, always felt like nighttime in here.

Harsh wind always at the bow of the ship when it was moving. I mean HARSH!

Parliament... Victoria BC, Canada

This guy is pretty famous in Victoria. I was anticipating the dark lord in his gleeful violist attire! You can search him on Google and Youtube and hear him play!

??? on Mt. Roberts in Juneau. Dirty snow, doesn't count -_-

Red Dog Saloon in Juneau. The walls are covered with business cards from all over the world, but mostly CA.

Bald Eagle...no where in CA, but EVERYFREAKINWHERE in Alaska!

Now a vistor's center, the Arctic Brotherhouse was built in 1899. The frat house looks EXACTLY as it did over 110 years ago! Skagway, my favorite city.

Deceiving but that thing is 200 ft. tall, remember this is from the top of the ship! Glacier Bay

HARSH wind

Rusted crane, forest wins! Temperate Rainforest at Ketchikan

It's a beaver, see it? Totem Pole of an ancient Tlingit legend.

So Alaska really is the last frontier. Being the newest and largest state, equipped with the some of the most extreme climate conditions on Earth, most of the land is untouched by human activity and the government wishes to keep it that way. Besides, it's not really ideal conditions for people to live, but it hasn't stopped some, including the legendary Haida and Tlingit Indians. I only visited a tiny portion of Alaska. The parts I saw (apart from the glacier) look very similar to Northern California. Spruce trees lining mountain tops with snowy caps and clear water; in other words, nothing I've never seen before. But it does feel different. The Alaskan air is almost 100% natural and construction is limited due to the challenging climate; Juneau can only be entered via boat or plane. It's a place where nature dominates humanity; in a way, it is almost like looking into the past, how it probably looked thousands of years ago. Beautiful by all means.

Part 2 coming up next!

Final color script

This is our final color script.
There were many many changes and talks over to change.
Personally, I don't know if I am 100% satisfied with it,
but to remind myself again, that this is collaborated project with someone's idea and vision.
Collaborating is real hard,
but overall I am very proud of us. :]

few crazy things happened today.

Here are few crazy things that happened today.

1. Our student animation project is officially started today.-our goal is to send fellow student 2D pencil animation into digital colorful animation and submit to Ottawa Animation Festival, Canada, by within two weeks.

2. Crazy drugged man came into my sushi restaurant claiming that he is a son of AL Pacino. So I did some Hollywood star research and found he has:

1st Daughter: Julie Marie Pacino. Born in October 1989; mother, Jan Tarrant
2nd Daughter: Olivia Pacino. Born Jan. 25, 2001; fraternal twin of Anton; mother, Beverly D Angelo

3rd Son: Anton Pacino. Born Jan. 25, 2001; fraternal twin of Olivia; mother, Beverly D Angelo

3. The fact that my owner thought that it could be possibly true. She kept saying, "he does sort of look like him."

4. Two hobos came in the restaurant fighting (woman running away from old man hobo) over a blanket.

5.

The most epic shot from the film, "Fargo"
the man is being woodchipped and I really thought it was crazy, what makes it more crazy is it ACTUALLY happened(?).

6. The anticipation of waiting someone is driving me nuts.

Not so friendly green apple bookman

As a local bay area book loving person,
you can not forget the famous green apple bookstore located in San Francisco.
And for many many years,
I was a customer and book-lover who has been visiting the store since high school.
However, my recent encounters with green apple store was not satisfying,
it was actually,
very un-satisfying and UNreasonable.

It was when I needed to ask for few reference books, (specially guns and armors)
and I asked this man who was shelving the books.
He gave real quick glance and said "it should be over that area" and eye-signaled where I "CAME" from.
I said I looked over there and was wondering if he could help me with it.
He goes, "if it isn't there, it's not."
and went back to his business.

quiet upset,
I was looking around the shelves.
and within few minutes his friend or "regular" customer(caucasian) walks in and asks for something about paper origami/ folding books.

This man, with GREAT smile on his face now, volunteers to find books with him.
He even suggests,

"Hmm, I can go check downstairs to see if we have it there"

"Do you need anything else? Are you sure? Let me help ya"

By then, I was quiet upset.

He was the same guy who was completely helpless when I asked about tree house books few months ago.

Quiet upset
and feel betrayed by my favorite book store,
I went to front desk to ask for comment box.
This time, the lady goes like this,

"I don't know. Why don't you write down on some piece of paper and I will read it later or something"

Quiet MORE upset,
I just bought the book
and left very very uneasy about this bookstore.

What happened here?

anyways
...
kree left to Alaska today.
nothing seems to be the same.

i left san francisco
without smile or regret.
unlike how I would usually do......weird.

Borders Secret (Premiere Post!!!)

Today when I went to my local Borders in Sacramento, I found this secret! It was wrinkled between the pages of one of Frank Warren's A Lifetime of Secrets books, an anonymous note from a mysterious confessor. Of course I instantly thought, "who wrote this?" How could it be an adult if they said they are scared to grow up? From what the secret reveals, the person cannot be an older child because the secret says, "you made a time line of how long my childhood was," implying that his/her childhood has passed. Did this person mean - scared to grow older? I think it's a teenager.

For those that don't know, Frank Warren started an art project known as PostSecrets back in 2005, in which anonymous people would mail him homemade postcards with a secret of theirs. It hit enough communal attention, that to this day, he has published 5 books featuring the best I'm guessing. Here is a link to his Blog. The cards are quite clever and humorous and sad and pathetic. I read them a lot.

Here's some inspirations from this random discovery:
1) From the secret, create a piece of artwork
2) Mail my own secret postcard to Frank Warren & have it displayed on his Blog
3) Is this the origins of Peter Pan?

I'm going out for 10 days, going on a cruise to Alaska with my family. Perhaps Sue will step in during then.

Being ready

I know that this blog is not ready-
not ready for public eyes to see
not ready for our friends to check out
maybe this isn't really ready for me to spill out what I have to----

.say
.show
.tell
.draw
.share
.express
.describe
.write
.think
.create
.post
.dream
.hope
.explain

anything-

but i do recall,
that writing about any simple thing that happened in your day-
and sharing with someone,
is as valuable as
sharing genius ideas or theories or philosophies.

so here we are,
un-ready,
un-prepared,
yet so enthusiastic for many events to come,
we dare to share
(or at least I AM)
our figments of days.

-Quiet honestly, I'm not a great writer or public speaker OR great at English general. So there may be many many grammar errors and run on sentences with poor sentence structures. Please bare with me, and I promise I will get better.
Thank You.
